Global Social Media Trends and Stats

It's here! Anyone who works in or teaches social media marketing knows the difficulty of finding global social media research that is both free and somewhat reliable.  Check out this free 376-page report from We Are Social.
Since discovering We Are Social’s Digital, Social and Mobile report last year, I've been waiting for the new 2015 version to post.

The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project is my go-to for U.S. social media data.

Quick observations from the 2015 report:

>Facebook is still the big daddy of social media.

>Mobile-oriented services like WhatsApp, WeChat, SnapChat and Facebook Messenger are included in this year's report and their usage often exceeded usage of popular social platforms. For example, more people in South Africa use What's App than Facebook.

>Americans are not the most connected. Filipino Internet users spend an average of 6.3 hours per day online. U.S. is only 4.9 hours per day.

>Need a fast Internet connection? Cadge WiFi from a South Korea Starbucks - the country has an average connection of 18.2 Mbps – twice as much as any other nation.

> Three-quarters of world mobile users rely upon low cost pre-paid mobile service. So do I so I glad to learn that I'm part of the trend!
